One For The Boys
I must say that although I am not the biggest fan of fishing, (NOT because of the worms, the smell, or the fish, it is simply because I am unable to enjoy sitting still AND being silent) however, I am a devoted fan and lover of antique tackle boxes, rods, signs, coolers, lanterns, etc. If only Bass Pro Shop would just sell all their antique props I would be there a whole ton more!!
Anywho, with summer here and sharing all her glory with us I felt inspired to change my blue table decor. It has been too long since I changed her up, I guess I've been busy! I painted a bait~n~tackle sign yesterday while it stormed all day and used what little lovies I had to go along with it. I also pulled out some 7~4 Decor, no it's not too soon for a lil red, white, and blue. (I do a little at a time so I don't get bored with it!)
My family is the greatest when it comes to noticing my day long rearranging adventures and things I've made. I get a lot of "awe, so cute's" and "that's pretty", but yesterday when Husby saw Blue and her hint of manly decor he said, "Oh how sweet". A side note...notice irony in the situation? Just a smidge of it. Back to point, Husby's father and him share many things even though Rex has been an angel for thirty years. Fishing is one of them. I believe someone's love for fishing can explain, to the core, who they are. Husby is one of the most patient persons I've ever had the honor of trying to breakdown and annoy with my impatience! He is constant with his ability to sit on a boat with the less than quiet kids and my less than immobile mind and never grows frustrated with putting bait on for us, taking fish off for us, teaching us and all the while he doesn't even get to touch his fishing rod. He is patient enough to sit on a boat, by himself, all night until his line starts getting tugged on. Satisfied completely, to come home with peace of mind and fresh air in his lungs and nothing else. Husby makes Rex proud daily, I believe. I also like to believe that Rex is fishing out of the same lake, watching his son bait his own hook, take off his own fish, and thinking how blessed they are to have those moments~even if no one really knows about them.
I doubt Husby grasps my thoughts behind the simple bait~tackle sign, doesn't matter. Just looking over at Blue and her bait~n~tackle simple glory reminds me how special Husby is and that "simple" is why I am so overly blessed with who he is.
Simple blessings to all!

Summer Sign

Well, Hello There
My Husby has always kept an amazing, huge veggie garden out here. I just told a friend recently that Husby had a garden tilled and planted before we had even unpacked our boxes after moving here! He took care of the garden and canned whatever he harvested. I didn't really have much interest in it the first couple years. I couldn't tell you why, yes I can, it is A LOT of work! I was lazy and foolish. Honestly, I had no idea how rewarding gardening is. Whether it is a flower garden, herb garden, or every veggie and fruit imaginable, accomplishing something like the miracle of growing things is a pride that can only be shared by handing someone a home grown bouquet or a basket full of homemade pickle relish and cherry jam.
So in honor of Spring sharing her delightful promises with us, let's go outside, play in the dirt, plant promises in the sweet soil to show our children that miracles really do happen! Have a little faith in Mother Nature and yourself, don't be afraid if you aren't a greenthumb! The only way to be a gardener is to learn to grow...
More gardening posts to come!
Have a spectacular day! Go outside!!

My Version of Anthropologie Inspired Necklace
Anyway, excuse my photog skills as well. Not so easy to stay focused on the project AND take pics! So first ya need some material that you like, love, or just want to get rid of for practicing.
I tried to follow the tutorial from Little Miss Momma as best as possible, I however got very impatient and didn't cut my circles very accurately and ended up with uneven flowers/pom poms for the necklaces. My response to my husby's accurate eye, "No flower is perfect or the same shape"!! (This is where the different color material comes in ladies, I couldn't stand that he was right)
Materials Needed:
Felt, approximately 1 sq foot
Cotton fabric in the color of your choice
Fabric scissors
Necklace chain, pearls, whatever you have and don't use anymore would be great!
Hot glue gun
First cut 5 small 1.5" felt circles
I'll admit, patience I lack but accuracy I desire. So i along with this tutorial, I cut my felt circles correctly and accurately! I grabbed my vitamins and traced the lid which was 1.5", cut those out and life seemed a little sweeter afterwards!
After smelling the sweet fragrance of success, use the felt circles as a template for your fabric circles. Cut fabric circles, cut A LOT of fabric circles.
Next, scrunch up your fabric circle, add a dot of glue to the bottom of it and attach her to the felt circle.
Repeat, repeat, then repeat again until your felt circle is nice a pretty. I used approximately 12 fabric circles per felt circle! No, I didn't have any intentions of actually being that precise! My lovely, very smart, and eager to learn friend asked me as I was making the first pom pom how many pieces of fabric per felt circle. ???? So here's to you and the rest of the accuracy bureau....Twelve little bitties per felt circle. It could be more or less depending on the day, weather, how fast you want to get the project done!
Then just glue those girls onto the felt with the others. Cut around to where you don't see any of the felt backing and TA-DA!!! Ya got yourself a pretty pom pom necklace!!
Embellish however your heart fancies, or don't do anything else to it! They look glamorous regardless. Make one in every color. Use chains, beads, pearls! Have your friends over, and their friends, or just your closest, sweetest, most favorite friend, and make lots! No matter where you're going or what you're doing, be it date night with Mr. One and Only or date night with Mr. Clean, this hot number's going to make ya shake your pom poms!!! (And by pom poms, I mean the pom poms above of course)
Hope I did this little how-to justice!!!
Good night fancy ladies xoxo

I'll Miss You Girl
I have so many projects on the horizon! I can't wait to share, my only resolution was to be a better blogger and to share more because really~sharing is caring!!
No seriously, my resolution was to be a better teacher so that I may also teach how to make anything and everything that pops into my random head that all my friends seem to love. Which hopefully they really love it and I'm not friends with a bunch of Oscar winners!
So I'm going to try and rock this party and be better at this new world. Tomorrow, a project!
